India's Smart Cities Mission: Smart for Whom? Cities for Whom?

This article discusses the transformation of cities in India into "smart" cities and the ramifications of such a redesign on those experiencing homelessness and poverty. The authors argue that the new image of the cityscape is a more exclusionary one and will push low-income residents and people experiencing homelessness out. 

In this article, the Housing and Land Rights Network analyzes the plan through a human tighs lens in order to assess its focus on marginalized groups, what the plan means for urban India, and the provisions to for low-income groups.
