Solutions

Homelessness is a problem we can solve.

We know that homelessness is solvable because we have seen places solve it, through a combination of strategy, planning, and political will. Examples of success exist in regions where leaders have developed effective interventions to end homelessness, and many countries have seen steep and measurable reductions in street homelessness. While there is no "silver-bullet" solution to homelessness, we know that there are certain elements required to build and coordinate effective interventions:

  • clear reduction targets;
  • coordination across welfare systems, such as health services, corrections, employment, and housing;
  • robust national and local data tracking; and
  • a systems-wide model which incorporates and coordinates prevention, emergency response, and accomodation.

In this section, you will find the latest research on successful program models and overall strategy that communities are using to address homelessness locally and nationally.
